There is something about New Potatoes and I mean fresh out of the ground delicious Pembrokeshire New Potatoes that shouts Spring and Sunshine.
It’s not just me waxing lyrical about Pembrokeshire New Potatoes it is also Suzanne of Bwyd-y-Byd in Crymych.
Bwyd-y-Byd stocks a wonderful array local organic produce.
When I dropped in last Friday the Pembrokeshire New Potatoes were just in and Suzanne said they had the best flavour – ever! Although not a great potato eater I had to agree as we had some over the weekend and they were delicious.
Also in season at the moment is
Swiss Chard, Spinach, Curly Kale and Spring Greens. All are grown locally.
Whilst talking greens and all things healthy (I do occasionally) I spotted Raw Food Crackers called Crackits by inSpiral. Being Gluten Free they caught my notice as I find it difficult to find healthy crackers. Most Gluten Free have goodness knows what included – usually with unpronounceable names – to my mind definitely to be avoided. Anyway back to these crackits – they are made from “crunchy raw almonds and high EFA omega seeds, soaked and slow dried to maintain optimum nutritional potency” according to the blurb on the packet. They are then enhanced with tonic herbs and superfoods. One I bought was Reishi Crackits which contained just:
Almonds, sunflower seeds, carrots, courgettes, onions, flax seeds, olive oil, chia seeds, garlic, Himalayan salt, reishi, oregano and black pepper.
The crackers are yummy on their own or with a dip or cheese. Loved them!
