Have you looked in your stationery cupboard for an envelope and come away unsure on which one to use?

Don't know about you but I regularly seem not to have the right size envelope for a particular size of paper or indeed vice versa.

It is not that we use loads of different sizes of paper in our office but sometimes paper requires to be folded and sometimes it doesn't. But I do know that on occasion I have folded the sheet of paper and it does not sit 'right' within the envelope selected. Do I fold it in half, quarters or indeed the tricky one - in three?

Little thing maybe but how a letter is received is important. It creates an impression so I spoke with the boys at Modern Print & Design.  They agreed many of their customers get confused by the range of sheet sizes and the envelopes available.

There does seem to be more envelopes to paper so there is the need for folding!!

Anyway the boys at Modern Print and Design were very helpful and came up with this chart which I thought worth sharing.

Here are the standard envelope sizes used in Britain and the paper sizes that fit in them.

Standard Envelope Sizes DL, C6, C5, C4, And C3

C6 114 x 162mm which holds postcards or A4 sheets folded into quarters.

DL 110 x 220mm which holds 1/3 A4 leaflets or A4 sheets folded into 3.

C5 229 x 162mm which holds A5 leaflets or A4 sheets folded in half.

C4 324 x 229mm which holds A4 Letterheads or A3 sheets folded in half.

C3 457 x 324mm which holds A3 sheets or A2 sheets folded in half.

Modern Print & Design have a great offer for 500 Full Colour Leaflets with Graphic Design for just £97. Click here to print off the voucher or give the boys a call on 01646 429 209 or email theboys@modernprint.co.uk
