Book lovers the world over have heard of the Hay Festival but let me introduce you to the PENfro Book Festival.

It is an innovative new event right here in the heart of West Wales.  The event has been Organised by a diverse group of local writers, artists, journalists and publishers and is supported by Literature Wales, Welsh Books Council, Menter Rhosygilwen and Pembrokeshire County Council and is being held at Rhosygilwen Mansion and the Neuadd y Dderwen  on Sunday 18th September

Do you want to find a Publisher?

Or do you just love books and reading them?  The festival caters for all and has a variety of events, Book stalls, workshops and talks to make it a stimulating and innovating day for all.

The festival kicks off with an Opening Reception on Saturday 17th September  at 7pm with the Friends of Rhosygwilwen, followed at 7.30 with Patrick McGuinness talking to David Heal about Ceausescu and the challenge of writing about living through interesting times.  (Patrick McGuiness whose first novel, The Last Hundred Days is long listed for this year’s Booker Prize.  There are limited tickets for this special evenings event so please call to check availability on 01239 639 091

On Sunday 18th September, doors open at the Neuadd y Dderwen at 11am  with a welcome from Festival chairman Brian John ( himself a well known local author)

It is FREE entry to the The Book Fair which will run throughout the day in Neuadd y Dderwen from 11 am through to 5 pm and includes prize giving and a raffle. 

There are events throughout the day which can be paid for individually (£3 and £5 per event) but a Festival Pass for just £10 covers entry to all events so a great buy should you wish to attend 3 or more events.  For full details of the programme click here (note the programme Outline could be subject to change)  There will be appearances from a host of authors including:

Trevor Fishlock, Catrin Collier, Dai Smith, Jo Verity, Patrick McGuiness, Brian John, Caryl Lewis, Ceri Wyn Jones, Fflur Dafydd, Gillian Clark and Tony Curtis.

So make a date and join in the literary fun on Sunday 18th September
