Press-Release from Oxford International Art Fair

The city of Oxford is once again playing host to hundreds of talented artists from all around the world when it stages the second Oxford International Art Fair from 6th to 8th February 2015, with this year’s event taking over not one but three halls at the city’s magnificent town hall.

More than 150 artists from over 30 countries will be filling the historic venue with an incredible display of art, with more pieces than ever before gathered under one roof for visitors to admire and to buy in the city’s largest showcase of modern and contemporary art.

oaf-74Following a successful event in 2014, Joelle Dinnage and her business partner Natal Vallvé from organisers The Global Art Agency are making the fantastic (free) three-day art extravaganza bigger and better for 2015. As well as more artists, there will also be larger, more spacious viewing areas to take in the huge variety of artworks, paintings, sculptures, photography, art, illustrations, printmaking and, for the first time, bespoke crafts and jewellery on show at the event.

“We were overwhelmed with the response from our first ever art fair in Oxford in February 2014, both in the quality of the art that was on show and also the interest from visitors who loved the stunning prints, sculptures and images that surrounded them,” says Joelle Dinnage from organisers.

“This year, to make the task of admiring and also of finding the right piece to decorate a home, garden or office even more enjoyable, we are opening up the walkways more to make it easier to look round and appreciate the pieces as well as spreading the collections over three halls. Visitors can take their time to wander around and see what’s on show, chat to the artists, relax over a coffee or glass of wine and then select the piece that catches their eye,” she says.

oaf-71The fair starts in style on the Friday night, 6th February 2015, with a special private view and champagne reception with tickets costing only £10 each for an exclusive sneak preview of the treasures that are to come over the weekend.

Entry is then completely free on the Saturday 7th and 8th February, with the event culminating in the announcement of the best artists on show at the Oxford International Art Fair Awards on Sunday afternoon. The Queen’s Lieutenant will reveal which artist takes home the title of Best Oxford International Art Fair Artist 2015 and with it, an exhibition at another forthcoming international art fair. Visitors will also be able to vote for their favourite artist by going to the fair’s Facebook page

Other must-sees will be work by the British street artist Banksy in the form of ‘Di Faced Tenners’, screen-printed ten pound notes from the ‘Banksy of England’ bearing the face of the late Princess Diana in place of the Queen; a prize draw to win £500 worth of artwork in support of the charity Doctors Without Borders in the fight against ebola and live painting throughout the weekend.

“Our second art fair here in the city is going to be our best yet with so much to see and enjoy, whether you’re new to art or an avid collector,” says Joelle. “So many fantastically talented artists will be on show, with pieces to suit everyone’s taste and pocket, against the backdrop of a beautiful setting in a beautiful, historic city. Come along and soak up the atmosphere, meet the artists and invest in some unique art. It’s a fabulous day out.”
