The UK radio industry's prestigious SONY Radio Academy has again recognised Oxfordshire radio station 106 JACKfm with a swag of nominations for the 2011 Awards.

Last night at the SONY Awards launch in London, 106 JACKfm received THREE nominations, making us AGAIN the most nominated local commercial radio station in the UK.

This year JACKfm is nominated for:

Best Community Programming - 'JACKfm in Afghanistan'
Breakfast Show Of The Year (Under 10 Million) - 'JACK's Morning Glory'
and Programmer of The Year for  General Manager Ian Walker

JACKfm in Afghanistan was a UK radio first with JACK's entire breakfast team flying out to Camp Bastion for a week of live shows last November. This is also a first nomination for the Morning Glory team, in the much coveted Breakfast Show of the Year category.

Last year the station was described by judges as "punching well above its weight" after winning a silver award in the Best Community Programming category with Ali Booker's Cancer Diaries, and the prestigious Gold award for Best Station Imaging.

JACKfm Programme Director Sue Carter said: "We are once again thrilled that the SONY Academy has recognised the hard work we put into creating great local radio. JACKfm in Afghanistan took over 12 months of planning, the willing participation of hundreds of service personnel and their friends and families, and the invaluable help and support of the MOD, The Royal British Legion and BFBS".

This year's awards will take place at Grosvenor House in London on Monday 9th May.
