CORNERSTONE ANNOUNCES NEW DANCE EVENT
31st March 2011

Cornerstone, in collaboration with Orange Street Entertainment, presents ‘Enjoy Yourself’ - something completely different for Didcot, on Saturday 23 April 8pm.

Young and old alike will enjoy this night whether you want to hang out in the bar listening to DJ’s playing uplifting mix of ska, reggae and 2Tone or dance in the main auditorium to the Nine Ton Peanut Smugglers.

If you are not familiar with this style of music, these are the sounds that inspired the likes of Madness and The Specials from the 2Tone era, incorporating the style of original 60’s artists such as Desmond Dekker and hits like ‘liquidator’ ‘my boy lollipop’ and early Bob Marley.

Bring your friends, enjoy the friendly atmosphere and maybe sample the rum punch!

The nine ton peanut smugglers are a magnificent UK based seven piece combo playing authentic, swinging ska & shufflin’ rhythm ‘n’ blues, they were once described as ‘The best, most authentic ska ever played by white men’

The frontman of the band, Sir Bald Diddley is a man of many bands, many songs and many pseudonyms! He has written over 300 self composed songs and been described as 'Britain's Best Kept Secret' (Maximum Rock n Roll, USA), 'Immensely talented' (The Guardian), 'Britain's string king' (Norton Records). He also occasionally plays double bass.

Come on, get a group together and celebrate springtime ska-style!

Tickets are £15, £13.50 (concs), £12.50 (members) and are available from Cornerstone in person at the Box Office, on the telephone on 01235 515144 or from the website www.cornertsone-arts.org.
