Oswestry is blessed with many great independent shops! It's one of the reasons visitors come from miles around to discover these hidden gems, so different from bland high-street chains, they sparkle with creativity, genuine service and attractive shops.
This month, thebestofoswestry celebrates our independent shops with the Business Award for THE RETAILER OF THE YEAR 2010.

BBR Opticians: An attractive and friendly opticians who combine genuine care with professionalism and an eye for the best-looking and coolest glass frames.
Booka Bookshop & Cafe: After only one year, Booka has established itself as one of the most fun and happening shops in town. Great books, cakes & warm welcome!
D.C.Lighting: Hidden away along Upper Church St is this brilliant lighting shop with a superb range of styles and fittings - not to mention, great advice!
Gillham's Deli & Cafe: Not only a great deli selection, but a lovely tea shop too; fabulous sandwiches served with aplomb! Eddie Izzard's favourite stop-off. :)
Gooseberry Boutique: This award-winning Little Lifestyle Shop continues to impress with fantastic product ranges, beautifully displayed and a fun shopping experience!
Microplus: Combining impressive product ranges with a comprehensive IT customer support and repair service, they continue to go from strength to strength.
Oswald Road Fine Furniture: "It's like an Aladdin's Cave" is the first thought when entering this huge display of great quality furiture and giftware. Great service too!
Upstairs Downstairs: Seen by many as the best cookshop in Shropshire, perhaps the UK. Has extensive product ranges with unrivalled knowledge & service.
The standard is very high - and really, they all deserve the title of RETAILER OF THE YEAR, but the winner will be voted for by Oswestry's customers - that's YOU. :)
