We have received enquiries from a number of clients, concerned that HMRC is going to try and tax them for the small amounts of cash that they make from pursuing hobbies. For example, buying and selling on eBay or setting up stalls at their local drive in markets – car boot sales.

A very happy and prosperous new year to our readers. It includes: the draconian increase in Stamp Duty for buyers of second homes or buy-to-let property in England and Wales after 1 April 2016; a move by HMRC towards the online filing of quarterly as opposed to annual accounts; a summary of other changes announced for next year and beyond; and a note of changes to car fuel advisory rate changes 1 December 2015.
Lanyon Bowdler LLP have, once again, been appointed as solicitors to Severn Hospice, a Shropshire Charity which provides care to those with incurable illness, and support to their families when and where needed.
Our next meeting will be on Wednesday 1st April 2015 and will include a presentation about the Future of Retail by Dan Munford from Insight Research (www.insightresearch.co.uk) which will, I am sure be very interesting indeed. The meeting will also include our Annual General Meeting and Election of Officers for 2015/16.
