It’s time to start thinking about treating that special person in your life. No, we’ve already had Valentine’s Day, I’m talking about your mum!

Sunday 18th March is Mothering Sunday so if you want to spoil her to say thank you for bringing you into the world, there are plenty of opportunities on offer.

Why not give her a day off from cooking. You don’t have to be a MasterChef contestant to wow her with culinary delights, as there are plenty of restaurants offering fabulous meals especially for all the mums out there.

The Maid’s Head Hotel in Norwich is offering a choice of a two or three-course lunch in the Winepress@Wensum Restaurant at a cost of £17.95 or £22.95 (half price for children).

If you fancy a pub linch, the Ribs of Beef, also in Norwich,  is hosting a mother’s day lunch. If it's a nice day, you can wander along the river, straight from the pub's riverside terrace.

If your mum enjoys cheering on The Canaries then the Top of the Terrace restaurant at Carrow Road is the ideal place to tuck into a meal. It’s offering a three-course carvery complete with children’s entertainment, stadium tour and a special present for all mums.

Caistor Hall Hotel is the ideal venue if you want to enjoy a meal in a glorious Georgian building  set in 30 acres of woodland. It’s laying on a three-course lunch especially for mums from noon onwards.

If you’re mum is more of an all-action-mum then you could try BeWILDerwood in Hoveton for a Mothering Sunday in the fresh air. It’s hosting a very special BeWILDerMum’s Day from 10am to 5.30pm. You can challenge your mum to a Wobbly Wire Race, brave the Tricky Tunnels or make her a fantastic card in the craft area. What’s more, mum’s get in for free!

For all those mums who enjoy the finer things in life The Mill Café Bar and Restaurant in Yaxham is offering afternoon tea on Saturday, 17 March. For £7.95 she’ll be able to enjoy scones with jam and cream, homemade sandwiches and cakes and a selection of drinks.

And finally, if you’re looking for something a bit different for your mum, then you could do worse than checking out Bure Valley Railway. You can transport your mum back to the bygone age of steam (just don’t ask her if she remembers it the first time around!) on a special Mother’s Day journey. The train departs from Wroxham at 11.10am and includes a two-course meal at the Whistlestop Café at Aylsham station all for just £21 per-person (£11 for children).

Whichever activity you pick, be sure to treat your mum like she’s a queen and don’t forget to get her a present!
