It's time to grab that bucket and spade as 'Market Harborough by the Sea' returns to The Square in Market Harborough bigger and better than ever before!

Now an established event in the Harborough summer calendar, the sandpits return to the town centre again for an amazing five days from Saturday, 3 August 2013, to Wednesday, 7 August 2013.

The event is again being organised by Harborough Improvement Team (HIT) and Harborough District Council and supported by sponsors and volunteers.

The opening day will include ‘Super Saturday,’ with a big screen showing the most memorable day of last year’s Olympics when GB Team favourites Jess Ennis, Mo Farah and Greg Rutherford won their Olympic Gold medals.

The day will relive last year’s Torch Relay with a mini torch relay through the town with competition winners carrying an Olympic torch along the original route with Harborough’s own torchbearers.  There will also be seated volleyball and ‘beach volleyball’ competition, activity stalls, children’s entertainer and  Harborough FM

On August 4th, Harborough District Neighbourhood Watch are hosting 'Sunday By The Sea', as well as the usual sandcastle competitions, we will be joined by  Sir Topham Hatt from Thomas the Tank Engine.

On Wednesday 7 August the event celebrates National Play Day with fun activities on the Chill-out bus, a live music workshop and crafty art and craft activities.
