Local Market Harborough Girl wants support with her Costa Rica World Challenge next year

My name is Saskia Everard, and I am 15 years old. I have been given the opportunity to take part in a 4 week expedition to Costa Rica withWorld Challenge, this will involve preparing, planning and funding for the trip, all before July 2010. I shall be travelling with 3 others from my school, plus some others from another school. Once there we will be involved with a community project, furthermore we hope to help with an ecology study, perhaps gaining information to understand the endangered leatherback turtle population of Costa Rica. In addition, we aim to do something physically challenging – we start planning all the details in September.

While we are in Costa Rica we will take the opportunity to explore the amazingly diverse country as much as possible. Although we will have adult supervision, the whole expedition is essentially ours; this will enable us to learn many valuable life skills, such as fund raising, project management, leadership and problem solving. We will have to manage our own budget and arrange all transport and accommodation ourselves.

As you will appreciate, I need to raise a substantial amount of money. I have started well by making gloves, and enlisting the help of a Sioux Indian to crochet me wonderful flower corsages. these are proving to be a resounding success, and have sold well at my Village Fete and through school friends.

this summer I hope to sell baked potatoes at a the Towcester County Show, do a sponsored walk in Devon and take up any other money making opportunities that I (or perhaps you?) can think of.

With Christmas in mind, I have painted a watercolour and have had it made into Christmas Cards with the help of Eggbox Graphics. the card itself resembles watercolour paper, and the finish is superb.

Should you wish to order some, Eggbox (who have been very supportive) will print your address for free on orders above 50 or more cards. If, however, the Christmas cards are not for you but you still wish to make a contribution to my expedition costs that would, of course, be much appreciated.

Thank you for allowing me to explain my challenge. It is all very exciting for me, and I hope you think it is worthwhile in every aspect! Raising the money is an integral part of the expedition as a whole, and I would welcome any help you can give me.

P.S Please fill in the order form and return it back to the address shown. If you would like to, contributions may be sent to the same address.
