April 2nd 2020:

Firstly, I hope this finds you well. How are you and your loved ones coping?

I know it's challenging 'staying at home', especially if you're alone or self-isolating, and I know the national/international news is not good.

But this is NOT going to be a doom and gloom article. I want you to know there is a mass of good advice and help about, and if you'd like to know where to find it, please get in touch with me here at The Bestof Market Harborough and I'll gladly point you in the right direction. Just email me at thebestof. I'm here to help.

For obvious reasons there aren't many 'local events' to talk about at the moment, but keep an eye on our 'Whats On guide' in the coming weeks because 'as sure as night follows day', they will return soon!  So for the next few weeks I'm going to offer you at home some great tips and ideas from some brilliant innovative professionals I've found who can not only show you how best to occupy your time, your kids time, and how to maintain your mental and physical health, but also show how to do it with a beaming smile on your face!

FOR THE KIDS - education:
So let's kick off with a great video I found which will identify with all you parents of young children who you are trying desperately to explain what this Coronavirus thing is all about and why they can't do what they usually can. Go to: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OPsY-jLqaXM and let them learn with this fun explanation.

FOR THE KIDS - fun things to do:
Here's a great website with ideas that the kids will love to keep them occupied with free downloadable materials - https://www.forestryengland.uk/blog/10-ways-keep-the-kids-entertained-through-covid-19

SOMETHING FOR YOU - tips to keep Active and Healthy (and keep your sanity!):
We are constantly being reminded that it's essential to keep our minds and body active at this time. We at the bestof highly recommend you 'tune in' to TIMMINS HEALTH & PERFORMANCE facebook page where local Sports Therapist, Bethan offers her professional advice and demonstrates easy daily workout routines.

Her clinic in Marston Trussell may be temporarily closed, but she hasn't forgotten you and she is offering personal video appointments by Zoom, Skype or WhatsApp. Her details are on her facebook page.

You can also go to this webpage with more advice and fun exercises to try at home.

BUSINESS OWNERS: I'm going to offer some powerful advice to all business owners over the next few weeks, so please look out for additional blog posts and our weekly e-newsletters - which I know you're going to find really useful. (If you are a Bestof Market Harborough business member, I'll be personally contacting you regularly with important updates).

My advice for this week, is click through to the EAST MIDLANDS CHAMBER website and get their 'Free Online Events for April to help Businesses And Staff'. And for their FREE Business Advice - call 0330 053 8639.

I'll be keeping you up to date with local services being offered by our amazing local businesses and other local news as it comes in. So please keep a close eye on and 'like' our facebook page, our website and of course our newsletters to stay in touch.

This is indeed a strange period in our lifetime whatever your age, but we're going to come through it and as has been said by many a wise person, 'we're all in it together'.

And, if you have a positive story to share, something to cheer us up, please get in touch.

If you're a local business owner who'd like some help at this time, again please contact me.

Finally, my thanks goes to James Feakes at JAVA CLEANING SERVICES (professional gutter clearing and fascia/soffit cleaning) for reminding us of the great key workers around the country who are protecting us and keeping essential services running. You are all amazing and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. The graphic above doesn't include everybody - we also recognise public transport workers, food producers, supermarket staff, emergency services, airline & travel company staff, funeral staff - and many more as the list goes on and on.

Did you celebrate in particular our NHS Workers last Thursday evening? What a wonderful coming together of people who jointly recognise the incredible effort and spirit of these amazing selfless workers.

Stay safe everyone and I'll 'see you' in the coming weeks,

Simon
