Calling Lichfield Remember Remember the 5th November! 

It's that time of year again when we celebrate the fact that Guy Fawkes didn't succeed in his attempt to blow up the Houses of Parliement back in 1605. Where the air is filled with the smell of bonfires and we can enjoy some tasty treats.

This year we are spoilt for choice so why not start your celebrations on Saturday 29th October with Midland Karting Children's Charity Firework Event with Kerrang! radio. The event starts from 2pm with a funfilled afternoon with karting and stalls to enthrall! The fireworks starting once it gets dark. 

Then on Sunday 30th you can prepare to be dazzled by the end of season firework and laser display at Drayton Manor Park. See website for ticket information www.draytonmanor.co.uk. 

On Thursday 3rd November you are in for a treat at the Lichfield Golf & Country Club's Annual Lakeside Bonfire & Firework Display gates open at 6pm, Bonfire will be lit at 6.30pm  & the firework display starting from 7.15pm.  There will also be: Live Music • Children’s Disco and Face Painting, Children’s Fairground Rides

Food and Refreshment Stalls

Pre-paid tickets available from the Club:

£4 per child / £5 on the night (children under 16 years of age)

£6 per adult / £7 on the night

Advance Family Tickets £18 - 2 adults & 2 children

(not available on the night)

Then on Friday 4th November comes Lichfield's annual biggest Bonfire Night extravaganza!

Lichfield Rugby Club hosts this year's event with gates opening at 6.30pm with the bonfire being lit at 7pm. First display for the younger ones starts at 7.30pm. The second display will start from 8.15pm.

There will be the usual fun fair, with the bar open for the Dad's!

Pay on the gate £5 adults under 16's and seniors £3.

Lots of free parking.

Bonfire Night! Saturday 5th November you will be welcomed at the George & Dragon on Beacon Street. Why not get there early to get a good seat? There will be a huge firework display, live music from local band "Last Orders" & a wonderful barbecue with hot dogs & beefburgers supplied & ran by the 7th Lichfield St Michaels Scout Group to raise much needed funds. So show your support & have a fab night out too! 

If you want to host your own smaller event why not treat yourself to a Kadai Firebowl it is a versatile & attraction to any garden and makes a superb barbecue. Get yours from G-Scapes Garden Centre in Curborough while stocks last.

Here's some safety tips to keep you and your family safe this November:

1  Light sparklers one at a time and wear gloves

2  Never give sparklers to a child under 5

3  Buy fireworks marked BS 7114

4  Keep fireworks in a closed box

5  Follow the instructions on each firework

6  Light them at arm’s length using a taper

7  Stand well back

8  Never go back to a lit firework

9  Never put fireworks in your pocket

10 Never throw fireworks

11 Keep pets indoors
