This is a wonderful, very special attraction. If you have an interest in history and the military, then this is the place to visit. We went during spring so a lot of the the trees weren't in leaf. I imagine come May the Arboretum looks stunning. The layout is well considered and very thought provoking. And the grounds are kept very nice and litter free. Looks like they have various special events throughout the year. The staff and volunteers are also extremely helpful with a wealth of information and knowledge to share if you ask. Sensible shoes and snacks required as lots to see. There are plenty of seats and resting places. There is a nice café and clean modern toilets. Entry free but a fee for the car parking. The Arboretum rellies on donations, which in my opinion are put to excellent use, so it was a pleasure to donate and gift aid! There are plenty of contactless donation points for those preferring not to use cash. Thank you we will be back!

Not expected to have felt as emotional as I was on the day. Beautiful sculptures outshone the trees which was the main reason for the visit. Very poignant and thought provoking but bring your tissues.

Wonderful, it's a large area dedicated to all the services including fire, police , navy, army, raf etc. The thought and design of the memorials is outstanding and I must admit it does put to the font of your mind about the people who served for us. The grounds are immaculate and and it's truly beautiful to walk around. Well done to all involved in it.

Some place we wanted to visit for a few years now and we weren't disappointed.
So peaceful and thought provoking and every monument is beautifully presented.
A lot of walking and to much to see in one visit , a train is provided for the less able which did seem popular.
So much thought has gone into the whole area.
Only slight niggle the toilets dotted around the park are portable and not the best .
My favourite moments are the main memorial , the PTSD hand experience and the Desert rat memorial ( for personal reasons) .
Lots of staff available to take questions and ask if your okay .
Overall an amazing and humbling experience .
Thank you.

It's expensive parking £8.00 if you want to break a journey, coffee and a sandwich, you're there for only a hour or so. If your going to be there all day that's fine as there is no entry fee to the memorials.

Set amidst 150 acres of beautifully landscaped grounds in Alrewas, Staffordshire, the National Memorial Arboretum is more than a collection of trees — it is a deeply moving, living tribute to service, sacrifice, and national memory.

From the moment you arrive, there is a quiet dignity to the site. The Arboretum is home to over 400 memorials, each commemorating individuals and groups from the armed forces, emergency services, and civil organisations. Some are grand and formal, others simple and intimate — but each tells a story. Walking among them is a profoundly humbling experience.

The centrepiece, the Armed Forces Memorial, is a powerful architectural space that honours those who have died in service since the end of the Second World War. With the names of the fallen carved into stone, it offers a stark, moving reminder of the cost of peace and duty. The annual Remembrance events, as well as more personal moments of reflection, find a fitting home here.

But the Arboretum is not just a place of solemn remembrance. It is also vibrant and alive — with woodlands, wildflower meadows, and peaceful riverside walks that change beautifully with the seasons. It's a space where families can come to learn, reflect, and connect with nature. The visitor centre, café, and exhibitions provide excellent resources and a warm welcome, and the volunteer guides add depth with their knowledge and empathy.

It is particularly well suited to those seeking a space for quiet contemplation, but also for people of all ages wishing to understand the past and explore how remembrance shapes our present.

Verdict:
The National Memorial Arboretum is a national treasure — poignant, peaceful, and beautifully maintained. It offers a rare blend of history, nature, and emotion, making it one of the UK’s most meaningful destinations. Whether you're visiting to remember a loved one or to better understand the fabric of national service and sacrifice, it leaves a lasting impression.

A very well kept outdoor Memorial park. I really found the historical aspect of everything too insightful, and how those who fought in service for the UK, and also to give many nations its freedom.
