Well worth visiting"Lichfield" in Staffordshire. Greeted by the spires of Lichfield Cathedral, the road takes you straight into the centre. This beautiful Cathedral with all his astonishing stone carvings, marble figures has been founded by St Chad, healer and founder of the "hospital". Next to the Cathedral lived and worked Erasmus Darvin, granddad of the great Charles Darwin. Reading about the Cathedral and the history, the great minds who gathered here, the incredible library...it becomes clear why Charles Darwin became the great naturalist, biologists, the father of the proposition that all creatures descent from one common ancestors.
You also will find lovely ,little shops, great samples of manmade example of metal, wood crafting....and Nicely decorated pub windows in Lichfield.
Nice day out...

A beautiful spot - nice on a sunny day and very interesting if you have the time to visit! I believe the architecture is gothic and quite an unusual sight! Spent a good hour here and could have spent longer!

This hidden gem in Lichfield sums up how lovely Lichfield is. On first sight of The medieval Cathedral, with three spires it reminded us of Sagrada Familia in Barcelona, which had four spires.
Lichfield is a peaceful and historical place to visit, with legendary celebrities - Dr Samuel; Erasmus Darwin, physician; Statue The Captain of the sunken RMS Titanic Ship Captain Edward Smith, British naval officer @ Beacon Park; Statue of Boswell, (Dr Johnson's close friend), in the Market Square @ Lichfield.
