A majestic cathedral overlooking the city of Lichfield. A short walk up to the catherdral past the Pool and many church houses in The Close. A very impressive view as you approach the Catherdral. Very welcoming guides who have a great wealth of knowledge. In the past we have bookd a guided tour when we were studying St. Chad. As we live locally we visit the Catherdral regularly and can always new pieces of interest. Recently they have renovated some of the large glass windows and they are stunning. Certainly well worth a visit as they cater for everyone.

The Cathedral with three Spires. Thoroughly worth a visit when in the midlands, this Cathedral has many points of interest, and is definitely worth visiting. I have been many times and found new points of interest every time.

I have visited this cathedral many many times.
On each visit I see something different from the last time. It's a truly beautiful place, the stained glass is gorgeous and well maintained. The maintenance is on going just to try and preserve it. It is very interesting and there are staff on hand who are very knowledgeable. There is no charge but they expect a donation, this is to help towards the daily cost of running this and also the restoration costs. It's wheelchair accessible as it's flat with wide aisles. I just wish that they had a flat mirror on wheels so you didn't strain your neck looking up! Great to visit.

The problem going at this time of year in a small group is the unavailability of guided tours. So I feel we have missed out on a lot of the history of the place. It is a grand building and if you take the trouble you can find out a lot in your own we found a glass measuring two and a half ping in a case a "rummer" used to measure the daily beer allowance. The chapter building had some of the Staffordshire hoard in it also very interesting. The outside has lots of carved figures and who these were will be found out by a Wikipedia search I fancy. Worth a visit definitely.

We visited Lichfield on a chilly Monday in early March & were welcomed into the lovely warm Cathedral by a greeter.
This was a very breathtaking experience for us as we found it to be one of the finest Cathedrals we had visited in the country. We were particularly taken by the enthusiasm
of the staff on duty to help make our visit a memorable one.Nothing was too much trouble to them
There was a lot of activity going on with a gang of workman completing a complete rewiring of the building. The shop & restaurant is housed in a separate building across the close, which works to its advantage,helping to retain the atmosphere of the building to quiet worship and meditation. We greatly enjoyed our visit.

My son having attended Lichfield Cathedral School, the visit was automatic. It is a - truly - glorious cathedral, well worth visiting.

Set in a delightful open space and surrounded by historic architecture of the domestic kind, the three beautiful spires seem to beckon the pilgrim into this place.
Walking silently into the enveloping Peace, the cares of the day seem to slip away. Taking a moment to sit and adjust to the environment, the realisation occurs that this is, indeed, a place where the Holy Spirit of God dwells in the Praises of His People.
It is with a lump in the throat that the Regimental Standards are viewed, together with reference to all those saints who laid down their lives for the love of their brethren.
So special is the atmosphere here, the hushed stillness of reverence seeping from the very stones, that it is no surprise to learn of the lives that have been transformed here by the Love of God.

A good visit to an interesting and impressive Cathedral. A little dark when we went but new lighting is due to be installed in March 2016 - would be good to visit after that.

impressive first impression and welcoming to all visitors. interactive activity handout given to children upon entry. theres also a play area. peaceful and well worth the visit even though we're not of Christian faith.

First impressions outside is its HUGE!!! Inside the welcome was both knowledgeable and warm. This is a working Church and as well as an interlude for prayer held by the Chaplain there was a communion service held at the High Altar whilst we tourists made our way quietly around this historical monument, parts of which date back to 500 CE. The staff are knowledgeable and enthusiastic without being in the least intrusive. Some of the treasures including the Staffordshire Hoard, were on display and much work is being carried out to areas of the building needing upkeep, but none that made the visit any less worthwhile. The building oozes charm and ancient history as well as some modernity showing how the Church is more than just stones and pews but a living force in this part of middle England. The Chapter House with the Book of St Chad has to be seen and John, the volunteer, is both enthusiastic and well versed in the history of this amazing book.

A wonderful three spired pocket sized cathedral, free entry, donations only. When entering we were approached by a friendly guide who gave us a free guidebook and information sheet and then let us wander round this atmospheric building at our own pace. Fantastic!

The cathedral is absolutely stunning and well worth a visit if you are in Lichfield for one of the many fairs or events.

Whenever family and friends visit us we always find time to take a visit to Lichfield cathedral. it is a most beutiful building in a lovely setting and the history is excellent

We were staying in the Peak District and on our way home decided to stop here. We visited the cathedral which was impressive. It has 3 spires which I hadn't seen before in other cathedrals.
It also holds the second oldest book in Britain which for any history geek (like myself) is fantastic to see. The staff there were very knowledgeable and the choir were practising so it was enjoyable to be there.
Free to enter, they just asked for donations which is fair.

visit was not rushed and lots to look around in the cathedral attendants made the trip worthwhile with there knowledge and not being overbearing.

The building is truely impressive and so much larger than it looks from the outside.The attendants are knowledgeable but unobtrusive.

I'm far from a religious man, but the cathedral is a beautiful building. Very peaceful indeed. Probably the type of place you could take well behaved children and/or elderly relatives.
