Lichfield Cathedral has well marked rooms and tours are available at 2pm Mon-Sat. They hold services throughout the day as well, visitors get the chance to participate in holy communion if they want to. Definitely a great day out for the family. Highly recommend

Beautiful old building. Unique, I believe, due to its 3 spires. Has a partial moat around it, with duck, swans, etc.

I visited Lichfield Cathedral in February 2014 to see Seth Lakeman perform here. It was a lovely venue and the event ran very smoothly! Particular songs such as 'portrait of my wife' sounded beautiful with the echoey vibes and added to the whole gig atmosphere.
I have visited Lichfield on several occasions and have always made sure to walk via the cathedral as it's a very scenic area externally.

It towers over the city centre - 3 spires peering over the Minster Pool. In fact it is the only medieval English cathedral with three spires.
The cathedral is dedicated to St Chad and Saint Mary. It's not that large with an internal length is 370 feet so easy to walk around.
The best way of approaching it is from Bird St so you can walk up to see the magnificent front facing you. It is as wonderful inside with the splendid nave leading up to the choir.
Have a walk all around the outside as well as The Close is very pretty as well and you can end up in Chapters their own licensed restaurant, which serves light meals, tea and coffee, wine and beer and is owned by the cathedral so if you haven't made a donation (entrance to Lichfield Cathedral is free) then at least the profit from your meal or drinks goes back into the upkeep.

We enjoyed the approach along Cathedral Close (with information about the civil war exchanges that took place here) and beautifully sculptured west front. Things got even better once inside. From the moment we entered the cathedral to the moment we left we felt welcomed and valued by the staff and volunteers who passed on their enthusiasm for the life and history held within. There is plenty of interest to see walking around the interior, in particular the Chapter House with its displays and artefacts including the Book of Chad the amazing Staffordshire Anglo-Saxon Hoard. Elsewhere there were modern artworks exhibited alongside fascinating memorials as well as the atmospheric worship spaces and Christian heritage inspired by St. Chad's exploits. The history of the building and its varied contents combine with the life within the cathedral today to make for a very enjoyable family visit.

he historic cathedral of Lichfield is a must see, steep in history that well informed staff are keen to enlighten along with the architecture is a pure joy and just a short walk you have Erasmus House and the City of Lichfield and its wonderful shops and if you intend to spend the night in Lichfield the Garrick theatre can give a night to remember.

The building is surrounded by a charming cathedral close which helps to create a sublime setting for a visit. The Cathedral interior is fascinating and a guide is necessary.

Absolutely stunning building. Beats the pants off other cathedrals, minsters and minsters including York, Durham, Selby, St.Paul's and all the ones in-between. I can't describe the front of the cathedral, it is just breathtaking and I hope my photos do the talking instead. Well worth a visit.

We attended a national service to commemorate the 70th Anniversary of VJ Day.

A place I always bring visitors, today we had the added bonus of sculpture outside and in plus paintings, all of which were worth viewing. The return of the stained glass is welcome too. There is some decoration going on inside so a small section was cordoned off, so a small allowance needs to be made.
A visit to the close by cathedral cafe is highly recommended too. Tasty, good value eats, with conscientious and efficient staff who catered well for the member of our party who needs gluten free food.

This is one fine if quite small cathedral that is free to enter and you can wander in and out. Lovely environs with lakes and fine buildings in close.

If you are visiting Lichfield this is a must. Incredible architecture and its stunning three spires, it is a landmark of incredible beauty and, of course, great history. Try to get on to a tour to get the full benefit but even without one you have to marvel at the splendour. I believe that you can also go up one of the spires at certain times.
There are many of the local great and good from the past centuries buried there and incredible stained glass, some of which has been recently restored. Breath taking!

This beautiful Cathedral is a "must visit" place. The architecture and the history in this magnificent building is superb.Situated,near to the centre of Lichfield, in the close, again a good place to explore.there is the Cathedral Bookshop and also a coffee/cafe near by, although in nearby Damm Street there are several cafes.

A superb cathedral which you need to make time for. Don't miss the stained glass windows in the Lady chapel and the upper room set aside for prayer. If you need a chance to have time alone and rest in the presence of God then this is the place to be. On the day we were there the ordination service was taking place. It was well run and really spiritual. I can heartily recommend this place to everyone.

Visited today and am really glad I'd seen this place on TripAdvisor. What can I say, the lovely vaulted ceilings and stained glass windows are worth a viewing. Along with the various alters and the small exhibition in the chapter house. Free entry but donations requested. A nice peaceful way to while away a couple of hours or longer if you like.
