As the whole of the UK gears up for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, Kingston is planning its own unique celebration for this joyous occasion. The Town Centre will celebrate all things British in a truly timeless fashion with its ‘Through the Decades’ Jubilee Party covering all 6 decades of the Queen’s reign.

Kingston’s activities for this historic celebration will take place on Tuesday 5th June from 12-5pm. Areas of the Town Centre will travel back in time as they each explore a different decade ranging from 1950’s through to the present day. There will be a great mix of events happening all around the town including a traditional church fête and tea party, classic cars, vintage aircraft, live music, giant board games and more for the whole family to enjoy.

The Kingston Aviation Centenary Festival will be in the Market House and Market Place showcasing vintage aircraft. There will also be 50s dance group Surrey Jive performing live along with music and other retro entertainment.

Eden Walk will be adopting the “Swinging 60s” theme with local band Atlantis playing sounds from the era until 4pm.

Memorial Gardens and Memorial Square will be transformed into the 1970s & 80s with the chance to explore a classic VW Camper Van with amazing photo opportunities. The will also be live music from an 80s themed band and why not dust off your legwarmers and unleash your inner “Green Goddess” with some aerobics.

The Bentall Centre will be loving the 90s by celebrating this fantastic decade of the Queen’s 60 year reign with a Brit Pop Roller Disco. Come and get your skates on to Oasis and the Spice Girls and get the party rolling.

All Saints Church will be representing the present and future by hosting a community street party & fête on their lawns. They will also help us look to the future by collecting people's dreams, hopes and aspirations. These will be buried in a time capsule under the Church floor for future generations to discover.

There are also other exciting events happening over the Jubilee weekend, there is the Kingston Aviation Centenary Festival in the Market House which will be celebrating 100 years of aviation in Kingston. You can also pay a visit to The Bentall Centre’s ‘Ultimate Tea Party’ over the whole of that weekend for some really exciting activities.

No matter where or when you were born, Kingston is the place to celebrate the momentous occasion that is the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.
