Good country pub. Unpretentious menu and the fish & chips were very good! The beer was well kept and well served. Convivial hosts too.

Good service, had a meal for six, good selection of food and drinks, all reasonably priced. A bit old fashioned but clean and nice laid back atmosphere.

Three of us had different mains and desserts in pleasant surroundings with good service. The food was nice and well-priced. It was a cold day, and the pub was a bit on the cool side - it would have been nice to see the stove lit.

Nice enough place. Fairly ordinary & slightly limited menu choice. Food was all done nicely none the less & said locally sourced. Had a groupon voucher as a gift & a glass of very pleasant wine each was included. A large bottle of sparkling water was Β£4-50 a bit over the top we think. Butter-spread on bread with prawn cocktail was a spread my wife says. Nice premises a little cramped in places, but it is an olde worlde pub. Menu too similar to everyday home cooking, needs to be a little more imaginative for us.

Friendly pub and our Sunday roast was really good (the apple crumble portion was massive). Will definitely go again.

A real homely feel with a traditional pub / restaurant environment. Have always felt incredibly welcome since first visiting pre-kids and even more so since. Landlord and Manager always friendly and accommodating.

A lovely country pub offering a superb selection of hot / cold meals , real ales, ciders, wines and spirits. Friendly staff who ensure your visit is a true pleasure. Outdoors there is a large landscaped garden area with plenty of space for the kids to play, patio area with tables and bench seats. The Stag also boasts a Coffee Shop on site . You have to visit this delightful pub in Maidwell, you won’t be disappointed!
