Nice zoo with a large variety of animals, which are well-looked after. There's plenty of feeding times and discussions throughout the day, and the zoo is easily navigated. It also has children play areas around.

I bought "afternoon tea with the monkeys" on buyagift for 99.00. While the experience was good an informative, it was a bit costly for what it was. We were meant to have tea at one of the cafes at the zoo (as it read on the paper we received), but we ended up being herded back to a dingy room to have a tea buffet, and it was massively crowded with no room. That was disappointing. Our group was also quite large and I ended up wishing I'd booked the experience in winter (I'd bought it before Christmas and booked it right after Christmas) instead of my birthday weekend in mid-June.

This place is brilliant. We took our 3 year old for a birthday treat. She absolutely enjoyed herself. Ok, the zoo is much smaller than London or Colchester zoos but I enjoyed this better than the other 2. Perfect size for a toddler. Animal park in one side and other other side there are various play areas, large sand pit (can buy bucket and spade in one of the shops), huge soft bricks, rides and lots more. After all the walking and playing you can settle down for a picnic in the picnic area and then cool down in the paddling area. Several ice cream places and a few bouncy castles. I will definitely be returning to this place.

This is one of the best places for all animals , and one of the few places where the public can feed zebras and other gentle creatures. There are creatures that you'll only ever see in the deepest Amazonian rainforest, so to see them here is amazing. And the Snow Leopards are simply breathtaking,considering how endangered they are, not to mention the rest of their cat exhibits.
Our family love this place as it isn't too big, and the elevated walkways are superb. The staff talks are great, and the keepers have a good knowledge of their animals and are always happy to make time to chat about the lives of the cats. The play facilities are vast. There are plenty of places to eat and drink. The face painting by the lovely lady in the shed is the best we have ever seen. The restaurant fast food isn't the best, but is good value, but there are plenty of picnic tables. The cafe overlooking the tiger enclosure is a joy when the cats are out, but service Is ok it's cash only. Those are probably the only negatives, we've grown to love this place, we've visited many zoos and conservation centres around the country, and we really like this one. We'll definitely return we have been here at lest 6 times brillrant day out.

I've been to this attraction many times since I was young due to it being very close by, and we have always had a pleasurable experience. There are many animals to see, including exotic animals, and there are multiple shows; the 'Birds of Paradise' show, keeper talks, as well as the chance to feed the animals yourselves (lions, penguins and more) - There's even a tractor ride, which gives you a little tour.
If your children start to get bored, there is a large outdoor play area on the far left, which includes a woodland trail and a miniature railway, and this train has a small fee. A disabled play area is included. Next to this, across the entrance road, are more attractions; a helter skelter, two bouncy castles, a 'panning for gold', an 18 hole golf course, and a small food station, as well as a gift shop that sells a variety of zoo-related souvenirs. In the summer, Paradise Lagoon, a kiddie pool, opens, which can entertain for a while.
There are multiple other eateries within the grounds as well; the Safari Suite restaurant, which serves hot and cold food and drinks; the Tumble Jungle, an indoor play area that serves Starbucks Coffee, and other snack-type food; and the Tiger Treetops coffee retreat, which not only serves home-made food, but also gives a panoramic view of the tiger enclosures.
The park is kept nicely, well maintained and litter-free, and is presented well with lovely flowers and plants, and traditional 'Zoo-theming'.

One could easily spend most of the day here. If you are looking for something to do in Hertfordshire, and you have children, then I would definitely recommend this attraction.

Visited Paradise Wildlife Park today on Tuesday 26th of June (term time) - 2 adults and a 3 year old girl. Total time spent was 6 hours. Will now share some good tips and details from the day especially for those planning their first visit !

Firstly, if you're wondering when to go - pick a week day during term time if possible. If you can pick a bright, sunny day, do. We expected to arrive to a very quiet park but actually there was a lot of activity - 99% being families with young children. Still, it was not overly busy and we could view all the animals perfectly without disturbance. Definatly avoid a hot Summer weekend or holiday period especially if you're not visiting with children as I imagine it will be much busier ! Remember to take loose change - £1 coins for the animal feed bags, train and kiddy rides.

The 'whole day' or 'few hours' question? Truth is, it really depends on whether you have young children. If you do, aim to to allow 5 or 6 hours to be safe....better to have too much time than not enough! Reason being, if you are a 5 year old this place is PARADISE. Lots of animals, play things and ice-cream!
We stayed for 6 hours because we had a 3 year old with us who was very intent on using all the play equiptment in sight and also because we wanted to see the big cats being fed at 5 o'clock! If you are an adult, three hours will be more than enough. This place is small enough for a 3 year old to walk around it for 90% of the day without needing a push-chair but big enough to not think ''What, that's it?''.

If you do not intend to spend the entire day at Paradise, I would recommend a PM visit to make the most of your time. When we arrived at midday, the place was dead and still. The reindeer looked like statues and the big cats were sleeping and boring! After 4 o'clock the place became alive as feeding time was an hour away and the big cats were anxious to get their tea....which meant a lot of activity including jumping up at the glass infront of visitors who jumped from behind their cameras !! Very entertaining. After 4 o'clock it was also much quieter, so you had more action from the animals and less people around so almost perfect viewing.
This smaller areas that the white tigers are kept in whilst the keepers are preparing their food outdoors allows you to see them up close and personal behind glass, look into their big eyes and get beautiful photos. The tigers too but not behind glass.
I imagine these periods are the best times and to miss it is a mistake. If you want a more unique personal experience you can book experiences such as feeding the big cats but it's pricey.

How does it compare to other zoos? Paradise Wildlife Park is probably as close as you will get to these amazing animals (big cats) besides being in the enclosures yourself with them ;-) (Probably not recommended!)
Best zoo for viewing in my experience (yes including London Zoo which may be bigger but is not better!).
For photography and pictures it is almost your typical zoo -- with exception to the few non wiry/fency areas. This is not Jerusalem Biblical Zoo where you can get uninterupted pictures without wiring and overgrown plants taking over your shots, but most zoo's are like this. Some of the plants infront of the fence (outside the enclosures) could be cut and maintained to get better views of the lions etc. The fencing and wiring in the photos does take the nature and raw beauty out of the shot and it is unforunate but forgivable.

The variety of animals at Paradise Wildlife Park is the best you will get if you are a big cat lover! For the full list see the website. They have white lions and tigers, snow leopards and cheetahs and wolves.....as well as sumatran and amur tigers ! A bit of a let down is that they do not have some of the typical animals you'd expect at a zoo such a giraffes, orangutans or elephants. A shame as giraffes, monkeys and elephants are the characters children are used to seeing in story books and pictures from a young age !
Seeing the rarer animals like the red pandas will make up for this for some. The farmyard is a great asset as children can feed the goats, pigs and ponies. Feed bags are £1 and best purchased at the entrance. These consist of lettuce and carrots. If you like the animals that send chills down your spine you will love the boa and python and tarantula ! If you like birds you will be spoilt for choice, lots of exotic birds and birds of prey.

Family friendly? Brilliantly so. Massive splash pool for children in the warmer weather, indoor ''Tumble Jungle'' play area with ball pit and slides and a cafe area for parents (easy to keep an eye on them).... lots of outdoor play areas including two bouncy castles and a fire enguine and your typical park scene....slides and swings etc. Also kiddy rides....£1 for 1 go, £2 for 3 gos. There's a train that goes round for about 4 minutes which is £1 per person. Also places to get ice lollys and ice-creams, breastfeed your baby in privacy or change your baby's nappy. All in all, you can keep your children entertained for hours here....3 year old slept as soon as we put her in the car! Lots of picnic tables which I recommen as eating cost us about £15 for 2 baguettes (average size, no extras) and 2 diet cokes and 2 ribenas. So definatly make the most of the picnic tables, especially if the weather is nice.

Enchanting and adventurous !!!!

We got a good deal with Groupon and only paid £25 for a family of four. We had a really nice day out and the children enjoyed themselves. Ended up in the indoor soft play area last thing where they completely burnt themselves out, and slept all night.

resonably priced and a smaller area than a zoo which suits my 3 year old as he managed to walk all the way around

I went with my boyfriend after getting tickets cheap on groupon and it was really lovely. its abit hard to find but with a sat nav it took me straight there without a problem. there are plenty of areas to eat inside and out, although inside the cafer they ask to not bring a picnic. its all standard prices really, nothing more than youd expect from a day at the zoo. The talks were really enjoyable and the staff were all very helpful and friendly. The whole zoo was clean and well kept and everything looked really nice.

A real family day out. Very impressed by the play facilities for various ages. The animals all seemed content and happy to interact with their keepers, displaying a high level of trust on both sides.

We spent the day there Friday 15th June for my 2 yr old son's birthday. It started off raining, but the awesome soft play area is ideal in that situation. Then we decided to see the animals straight off, so that they could have hours to play in the superb outdoor park afterwards, which began with a trip on the little train which is only a £1. There is so much to do here, make sure you go in the morning to have the whole day (if you have kids with you). I am going to get the annual membership.

My boyfriend and I had a good day at the Wildlife park. There were lots and lots of animals to see including rarer ones e.g. white tigers and lions. There were also lots of other things to do especially for younger children - parks etc. We went on the train ride which was good, but expected this to be included in the price (not £1 per person extra). The staff were very knowledgeable about the animals which was good.You could feed and pet quite a lot of the animals which was good. We would recommend this wildlifepark, We paid with Tesco vouchers, but online vouchers are often available.

We went as part of a Groupon deal "Breakfast with the Big Cats" and had a great time.
We arrived at 8.00am, got our welcome packs and had welcome drinks/biscuits. Then at 8.30am we were taken by a keeper around several of the big cat enclosures (lion, white lion, cheetah, white tiger) and finished at the tiger where it was fed and given medicine. The keeper was very informative and we had plently of excellent photo opportunites. Then at 9.30am we went back to the main cafe for a good freshly cooked full English breakfast.
Afterwards we stayed and looked around the rest of the park until about 2.00pm but, although not that large, there was plenty to see and we could easily have stayed all day.
I would say the package was good value for money but it wouldn't have been at the normal price.
A few small negatives were they had run out of DVDs which should have been in the welcome pack, promised to get in touch by email to say when they would be sent on but heard nothing yet. Our group of 25-30 was slightly larger then expected and meant we couldn't always get quite as close. And we thought breakfast might be in the small cafe overlooking the big cats but apparently they can only serve cold food there, not a cooked breakfast!
But overall it was a great day/experience which we would recommend at the deal price, if not at full price.

I bought a 2 adult deal from Groupon, saving half the price. It was a rainy, cold day but it didn't matter as this park was such a pleasant surprise. Planty of activities for little ones, including a slide made out of a digger. The large paddling pool would have been crowded on a hot day I'm sure.
Most important were the animal enclosures though. The animals were glossy coated, friendly, clearly comfortable with humans and some, such as the ocelot, genuinely love being handled. Large, clean enclosures with plenty of play material were in evidence. The leopard was pacing which was quite worrying, but a keeper soon noticed, got into the enclosure with the animal and was soon talking to another keeper about calling the vet.
The keepers and grounds staff were helpful, friendly and keen to share their knowledge, plus there were plenty of signs giving information, such as the one explaining that the reindeer were moulting and not losing their hair through stress or something equally nasty.
The park is of a compact size, so easy to get around in a couple of hours.
Only negatives are: 1) not great disabled access. My mother walks with a stick and we got stuck on a high walkway trying to find the way back to the exit. Mother really struggled with the steps. Someone in a wheelchair would be very restricted. 2) the portakabin loos just inside the entrance were filthy and very small cubicles, with no room to turn round as it were. 3) Cafe prices are high, nearly £3 for a coffee is a bit too much and the cafe staff could do with a bit of charm school - get the keepers to show how.
Otherwise a very morning out. I'd recommend

We spent 4 hours here on our way to Watford and must say it was a pleasant experience.
Not overly large but quite well laid out and plenty of variety for children. The baby meerkats were absolutely adorable. A good day out enjoyed by all.

Food cost a fortune and not too much to do if its raining. This place appears to be all about making a profit. the animals are limited and the `experiences` are pricey.

Location was poorly sign posted and difficult to get to through lots of narrow country lanes.

The one redeeming feature was the white tigers. A rare and beautiful sight!

My family and visited Paradise Park for an 'Ideal Day'. Tom C was our guide and he had such a vast knowledge of all of the animals, not just the ones he specialised in. He gave us all the background o the animals we saw and how long they had been at the park. I did hear people complaining about the size of the leopard enclosure. The leopard had been aquired from a private collector that had passed away. The leopard would have been in a smaller enclosure and therefore would be nervous about so much space straight away, the closure has recently been highered and they are teaching 'Sheena' to climb. This will gradually get bigger as time goes on. ALL the animals are in great condition and if the other keepers are anything like Tom was then I imagine they are truely loved. I fully reccomend one of the tours to get the 'real' stories behind the animals, breeding plans and rescue stories. I will definately be returning to support this family run park and all of their residents!!

We visited the park during jubilee weekend when the park was busy but still not too crowded and it was comfortable to walk around.

Overall we had a nice day because our 3 year old son had so much fun - he loved the animals, playgrounds, train and tractor rides and shows
.
However it was so upsetting for us to see some of the animals in really small enclosures. We have visited other animals parks and this was the worst we have seen. Personally for this reason I would not visit this park again. It was just too heartbreaking to look.

Other points:
Staff was very nice and friendly everywhere around the park
place was not very clean (especially toilets)
not many sinks or hand sanitizer around to clean your hands after feeding/touching animals - many of hand sanitizer were empty on the day
food was average

We have visited this zoo many times over the years and have many fond memories of being there. Significantly smaller than, say, London (Regents Park) Zoo, it is probably the perfect sized place to visit if you're not looking to spend the whole day there.

Restaurant and Shop are both a good size, and there is a good children's play area, offset from the restaurant and picnic area. Being able to hand-feed some of the animals is a nice touch.

As with all Zoos, I worry a little that some of the pens may not be large enough...

Althouh the paradise wildlife partk isn't large you can get very close to the animals which is amazing. The various feeding times give you the opportunity to see some of the more 'shy' animals and the snow leopard is a site to behold. Highly recommend a visit.

This is a fantastic place to visit. Everyone was very friendly to us. Especially the mini bus driver, he was lovely. U can get catch a mini bus from Broxbourne station. We got a train from Liverpool Street Station in London. It isn't a huge place but its packed with very interesting animals. My favourite were the white lions and white tigers. I have never seen these before (only in pictures). Evert animal i saw was happy and healthy. We also had lunch with the tigers which was very lovely too. They have so many different animals - snow leopards, tigers, lions, cheetah, racoons, monkeys, zebras, tapirs, wolves, meerkats, rabbits, goats, red pandas and so many more. The thing i was amazed about the most was how clean and tidy the place was. I just can't wait to return again. Their also a beautiful area for children to play in. It also has a large car park too. If you like animals this is defo the place to visit and its very children friendly too. Watch out for the little black cat. It's so cute.

We went on the Tea with Tigers Experience, which was great. Ricky our guide was very informative and all the cats are well looked after. Not quite as up close and personal as I thought we would be with the animals but you can get pretty close and it is all very safe.
The conservation work they do at Paradise is fantastic.
Would recommend doing one of the experiences they have to offer, but some are not suitable for young children.
This is a brilliant place to take young children, I would imagine there is enough to keep them occupied for a whole day.

Been numerous times, lovely size to spend a day to see all without feeling your feet will drop off.

Park is well kept, fun-filled and very nice. My visit was to meet the meerkats and i was not disappointed. The staff are polite and friendly and the park is very security conscious as regards childrens safety.
