Charity Bike Ride For Sue Ryder Care
24th March 2010

I must be mad, or as my sons say, having a mid life crisis. I have agreed to cycle from London to Paris this summer to raise money for Sue Ryder Care. This is part of their Big Wigs Challenge 2010.

My Mum died as a result of cancer so it is a charity close to my heart. They do fantastic work with the terminally ill and their families. So I'm aiming to raise £1,500 as part of Big Wigs.

The bike ride is over 4 days and 320 miles. The first day is from London to Dover, a ferry crossing, and then three days through the French countryside to arrive in Paris. We cycle around the Arc de Triomphe, crazy, and finish underneath the Eiffel Tower.

I'm paying for the trip so that all the money that is donated goes straight to Sue Ryder.

I will be training on the evenings and weekends around Henley and the Chilterns so please be careful if you are out driving and see an old man cycling!! I will also be having spinning classes at Expert Fitness Studio with Alison on a Monday. I have already started these and they are great fun but bloody knackering.

Your support will spur me on so please give on Just Giving. Even £10 will be much appreciated.

Thanks,

              Phil Chappell

PS I will be keeping you up to date on my training progress and the bike ride on this blog.
