It’s that time of year again to show your support for your local independent businesses. On the 4th July every year Skillsmart host their campaign ‘Independents’ Day’ which flies the flag for local retailers all over the UK, it’s all about championing diversity on the high street and supporting local business owners who make our cities, towns and villages so special.
Independent retailers have to be highly skilled business people who not only need to know their products and customers inside-out but must be able to understand all areas of retail including finance, marketing, HR and buying. Independents’ Day recognises that the continued success of our high streets relies on all retailers having the skills to run profitable businesses.
Retailers are being asked to promote the campaign to their customers in their shop windows with the ‘Your local shops need you!’ poster. Many towns and cities are also hosting special events and promotions on the day to encourage extra shoppers to the area.
The plea is simple; our friends at Skillsmart just ask that you buy one thing from a local independent business to support the heroes of your high street, and of course please share your stories with us here at thebestof www.facebook.com/thebestofharrow.
