Basic first aid and life support training for babies and toddlers by St John’s Ambulance
Nourish and Flourish, a new organisation created in partnership with Bright Beginnings to support parents navigating the weaning journey, is celebrating its launch with a special event on Wednesday 3 June at The Old Government House Hotel.
‘A confident start to weaning’ brings together expert advice from Dr Gopinath Rao, Consultant Paediatrician from the Medical Specialist Group (MSG), who will talk about the importance of the first 1,000 days and early nutrition, with Teresa Bott from Bright Beginnings and Harriet Armstrongfrom Nourish and Flourish, as well as basic first aid and life support training for babies and toddlers led by St John’s Ambulance.
The event runs from12:30-2pm and will equip expectant parents and parents of infants with the tools they need to feel confident about weaning in a relaxed environment.
Dr Rao said: “We’re honoured to be a part of such an important event for parents. Weaning can feel overwhelming, but parents do not need to navigate this stage alone, having accessible, expert advice can make a real difference. By focusing on the importance of early nutrition in the first 1,000 days, we can help families give their children the best possible start.”
Harriet said: “Every parent wants to provide the best for their child, and we believe that the weaning journey should be a joyful experience, not a stressful one.
“At Nourish and Flourish, our mission is to empower parents with knowledge and support, ensuring they feel confident and prepared. We are excited to bring together expert insights and practical training at this event, making the transition to weaning a positive milestone for every family and raise funds for bright beginnings whilst doing so, a charity which we are so lucky to have supporting families during the postpartum period and beyond here.”
Bright Beginnings will be on hand to help keep little ones entertained, so parents can relax, listen and take it all in.
