OGH & DUKE OF RICHMOND PARTICIPATE IN INAUGURAL LOCAL FOOD FESTIVAL

Islanders know that Guernsey is a food paradise, with a huge range of superb restaurants plus an abundance of fresh produce, from a wide variety of local seafood to the richness of local dairy products. This September the island celebrates that by hosting the first ever Guernsey International Food Festival.

Throughout this month local restaurants will be running fantastic promotions and there will also be wine tastings, live cooking demos and lots of other fun activities on offer.

Local sister hotels, The Duke of Richmond Hotel and The Old Government House Hotel & Spa, are contributing to this inaugural food festival through the following range of events:

Friday 18th to Sunday 27th September 2015

Guernsey Restaurant Week - During this week local eateries showcase their special dishes. This includes The Duke of Richmond's Leopard Bar & Restaurant and the OGH's Brasserie Restaurant, so pop along and check out the remarkable dishes their chefs have created for this week.


Saturday 19th & Sunday 20th September 2015
10.00am until 6.00pm

Big Guernsey Market - Down on the Crown Pier, local food producers will be exhibiting their foodstuffs. There will also be wine tastings, cocktail, cheese and beer matching, the Beach BBQ Cook-Off hosted by 2013 Masterchef contestant Kieron James, plus the Fridge Fest which hopes to inspire you to create delicious meals from leftovers.


Saturday 19th & Sunday 20th September 2015
12.00pm until 6.00pm

Live Food Show - Local top chefs, including Rafal Baranski from The Duke of Richmond, plus famous French chef Jean-Christophe Novelli, will showcase their culinary skills on stage at the Crown Pier. This event will include the “Extreme Food Challenge” where attendees will be able to sample unusual dishes that will challenge their taste buds. There will also be a book reading with accompanying food tasting to keep the children entertained during this family event.


Saturday 19th & Sunday 20th September 2015
10.00am until 4.00pm

Children’s Food Festival - A special event for the little ones, aged 5 to 11 years, at the Crown Pier. This event includes a food bravery activity to challenge the way children think about food, plus face painting, badge making and apple juice pressing, with the mascot for the event “La Frog”.


Saturday 19th September 2015, 7.00pm

Gold Dinner - Hosted by The Old Government House Hotel & Spa, this five course dinner features an inspiring menu created exclusively for this event by Executive Chef Simon McKenzie, utilising the best local produce matched to award-winning wines. A gastronomic experience not to be missed!


Tuesday 22nd September 2015, 7.00pm

Food Lab - Hosted by The Duke of Richmond Hotel, five top chefs and five leading local food producers tackle a challenge to create a delicious dish that showcases the best in Guernsey gastronomy.


Friday 25th September 2015, 7.00pm

Make Your Case - If you have ever fancied yourself a wine connoisseur then you should join experienced sommelier David Legoupil at Castle Cornet for this evening of blind wine tasting of fine wines from across the globe. Come along and take your wine tasting skills to the next level! (tickets available on www.guernseytickets.gg)


This promises to be a great festival which, we're sure you will agree, should have something to please everyone.
