27th June 2017

A talk by Sean Gillease from Concept Group, hosted by thebestof Guernsey at Le Petit Café as part of their 'Guernsey Means Business' series, covered pension options in Guernsey, including ongoing plans by the States of Guernsey to introduce compulsory employer-sponsored secondary pensions.

This presentation took place on the morning of 21st June 2017 and was attended by a wide variety of local businesses. The session was free to local businesses and the visual presentation is available for download on this blog as a PDF file.

The presentation was very well received by all attendees:

"Sean presented very well in an understandable and clear way. He made pensions much easier to understand!" - Becky

"Provided very useful information for employers and employees. Thanks" - Diane

"Well executed, timely and informative." - Michelle

"A great presentation. Concept Group managed to make the subject of pension relevant and interesting." - Katie

Sean Gillease spoke about how the States of Guernsey will struggle to afford pensions that pensioners will be able to live on in future, due to the maturing population and cost of living rises. Sean went on to discuss proposed solutions being discussed by the States, from pushing out the retirement age even further, to introducing compulsory employer sponsored pension savings - so-called "secondary pensions" - also known as auto-enrolment in the UK.

Concept Group are offering thebestof Guernsey business members an exclusive offer to make employer-sponsored pension savings schemes easier to set-up.

The offer includes;

  • nil set-up fees (usually £250 per person)
  • £250 per year (nil for under 30s)
  • start saving from just £50 per month
