The Best of Guernsey run an ongoing BUY LOCAL campaign, encouraging islanders to support local business where they can. So we were delighted when the Fresh Friday initiative was launched in April to help support local produce sellers.

Fresh Friday is a weekly market held in Market Square.  It was set up in conjunction with The Market Buildings and Guernsey Town Centre Partnership with the following key objectives:

  1. To provide an outlet for local food producers in the centre of St Peter Port
  2. To provide an opportunity for the local community and visitors to buy good quality fresh food
  3. To enhance the shopping experience in St Peter Port

Open every Friday from 8.30am - 2.30pm shoppers are invited to indulge in a range of wonderful local treats including fresh vegetables, cakes, hotdogs, cheese, fish and much more. And the benefit to traders is that there are no pitch fees.

So please do take advantage of this great initiative and show your support for local produce by BUYING LOCAL.

Traders include:

  • Meadowcourt Farm selling Beef, Sausages and Bacon
  • Senners Bread
  • Torteval Cheese
  • Castel Farm Eggs
  • Cafe D'Escalier Pates, Pies & Puddings ready to eat and perfect for picnics
  • Hungarian Chimney Cakes freshly baked on site
  • Sue Ephgrave's beautifully fresh locally grown veg, honey and homemade chutney
  • Cake's stunning & creative cupcakes
  • Fresh fish & shellfish including crab, lobster & scallops
  • The Rose Bowl Florists

There is also entertainment with live music.
