An Evening With The Best of Guernsey - September 2012
24th September 2012

Guests were welcomed with a glass of Pimms and the opportunity to mingle in the Courtyard bar before being called through to the Courtyard by Rowen Elmes - Manager of The Farmhouse Hotel and Restaurant.

Attendees were then asked to swap tables and introduce themselves to each other as part of a networking game following a short introduction by Kate Heywood. Rowen then welcomed the guests to the hotel highlighting upcoming events and corporate opportunities.

At each networking event several members are given the opportunity to showcase their business. At this event Laura Duquemin from Aspire gave an informative presentation on her talent and performance management business and how she can support career and organisation development needs.

Joanna Rolfe of Ruby Red had decorated the tables beautifully with her creative and colourful floral designs. Guests were invited to put their business cards into a pot from which four lucky winners were picked to take home one of the displays at the end of the night. These were: Karen Langlois of Best Books, Ian Haysom of Forest Road Garage, David Inglis of POS Interiors and Jo Stoddart of Quintessential Relocations.

At each networking event The Best of Guernsey chooses one local charity to support and receive donations from its guests. This event supported Animals In Need and raised £118 for this worthy cause;

"We would like to say a big thank you to The Best of Guernsey and all that attended the Farmhouse last night for kindly making donations to Animals In Need". Charleen Clench - Founder

If your company is holding an event soon that could help support Animals In Need, please get in touch with care@animalsinneed.co.uk as this charity needs you!

I then spent a bit of time bringing everyone up to date on our BUY LOCAL Campaign and how businesses could get involved and show their support, and on our Social Media Marketing services and the introduction of our FREE Social Media Marketing Health-Checks. Kate followed this with details of our newly launched website and the benefits it would offer the local community and businesses.

Guests were then treated to a fantastic BBQ Buffet put on by The Farmhouse which received glowing reviews from all. Towards the end of the evening certificates were presented to business members who had received 10+ reviews since the last networking event in May.

Available to receive their certificates at the event were Karen Dempsey of The Karen Dempsey School of Dance & Theatre Arts, Martin Yabsley of X The Finish Line, Joanna Rolfe of Ruby Red, Laura Duquemin of Aspire, Shaun McDonald of Hotel Bon Port, Jacqueline Ward of Jacqueline Ward Therapies, Paulette Machon of Complete Design, Jamie Lowe of Bluchip Vehicle Imports and Carol Harvey of Sports & Remedial Massage Clinic.
