Van theft is a serious problem, here’s how you can make your van more secure

Thefts across Surrey and Hampshire have increased dramatically - is your van secure?

Many van drivers/operators do not understand how vulnerable the manufacturers van lock is until it’s too late. Relying on standard factory fitted van locks to protect your livelihood could be a costly mistake. We witness all too often vans being broken into and the contents being emptied, usually costing the victim hundreds, if not thousand in lost tools, stock, van repairs and down time.

We can help prevent these losses by installing van security locks to your van!

We can supply and fit Thatcham Approved Deadlocks in half a day for as cheap as £175 (including VAT per lock/door).

We understand that for some business owners, having a vehicle off the road for any period of time can be costly. All we ask is to have the vehicle for half a day for a set of locks to be fitted (2 x locks). You can drop your van to our head office located in Camberley, Surrey and pick the van up later that day!

Please call KBO Fire and Security on 01276 686865 Option 1 for more information, or email

Van owners are being urged by the Police to take a range of extra precautions in order to keep their vehicles safe:

  • Ideally, empty vans of tools each night. If this is not possible, try parking in a way that will prevent thieves from reaching tools by parking doors against walls or fences
  • Park in a well-lit and busy area near the house or on your drive, and invest in household CCTV
  • Make sure you have fully comprehensive insurance for your vehicle and that your insurance covers your tools
  • Use reinforced locks, alarms and secure tool boxes within the van itself
  • Security mark all your tools and equipment to make items uniquely identifiable and more difficult to sell
