Do you know your tango from your cha-cha-cha? Or have you got two left feet? Whatever your dancing prowess, if you like to shake your booty then Phyllis Tuckwell wants to hear from you.

The local Hospice Care charity is looking for ten willing couples to take on its Strictly Learn to Dance challenge. The dancers will get sponsored to learn to dance over ten weeks, with weekly hour-long lessons provided by Angela’s School of Dance giving them the guidance and tips they need to hone their skills. And after the ten weeks are up, the couples will have their chance to become stars, as they change into their sequined outfits and perform at Phyllis Tuckwell’s Strictly Dancing event, at the Lakeside Country Club in Frimley Green, on Friday 27th May.

Each year, this annual fundraising event is headlined by a different couple from the BBC’s hit show Strictly Come Dancing. Last year saw Aljaž Škorjanec and Janette Manrara take to the floor, while this year it has just been confirmed that the star dancers will be Kevin Clifton and Karen Hauer, who is now Karen Clifton after the couple married last year. The money raised by the event will help fund the care which Phyllis Tuckwell provides for those facing cancer, or another terminal illness. Every day it supports over 250 patients and relatives, at the Hospice in Farnham, the Beacon Centre in Guildford and in patients’ own homes, through a mix of medical care, nursing, therapies, counselling, social work and practical support. However, as the NHS/Government only covers 20% of its costs, it has to raise over £15,000 a day to be able to do this.

Let 2016 be your year of dance. Get sponsored to take on a challenge and learn a new skill, whilst raising money to help fund local Hospice Care.
