Santa Fun Runs 2015 raise festive funds for Hospice Care

The Santa and Rudolph Fun Runs were held at the Devil’s Punch Bowl in Hindhead and the Queens Avenue Playing Fields in Aldershot.

The festive fundraisers walked, ran and jogged the routes, braving the cold and fog to raise money for local Hospice Care charity Phyllis Tuckwell, which provides supportive and end of life care for those facing cancer, or other serious progressive illnesses, in West Surrey and North East Hampshire.

Among those taking part were the Blackwater Valley Runners, who not only participated but also brought along seasonal cakes and sold them, raising £123, with all the profits going to Phyllis Tuckwell. Many participants also brought their dogs along – also in festive fancy dress!

“We would like to thank all those who took part in our annual Santa Fun Runs and raised money to fund our Hospice Care,” said Fiona Chapman, Events Fundraiser at Phyllis Tuckwell. “Our thanks also go to those who helped organise the event, and those who volunteered on the day, making sure it all went smoothly. Every day we support over 250 patients and relatives in their own homes, at the Hospice in Farnham and at the Beacon Centre in Guildford, but as the NHS/Government only covers 20% of our costs, we have to raise over £15,000 a day to be able to do this. Events such as this are vital in helping fund our care, as well as being great fun to take part in!”
