Deadline looms for filing tax returns You only have 10 more days to send in your tax return to HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC). Any outstanding 2009/10 returns must be filed online by Monday 31st January. If you submit your return after this date you could receive an unwelcome £100 late filing penalty. • More than 9 million people file a Self-Assessment return each year • Registering for on line filing is simple, just visit the HMRC website If you’ve filed online before, you’ll need your User ID and password – it can take seven working days to get replacements. And don’t forget that January 31st is also the deadline for paying any tax you owe for the 2009/10 tax year. Help is available from the HMRC website or from the Self-Assessment helpline on 0845 9000 444 In addition if you’re looking for Accountancy and Business advice in the Farnham area, then just click on this ‘Accountants’ link.
