Website education section for the Devon County Show

The Devon County Show has launched a new education section on its popular website.

Aimed at schools and children, there are educational resources and fun games for use in the classroom and at home.

Show Secretary Ollie Allen said that education is at the heart of the Devon County Agricultural Association, which stages the Show held on May 17-19 at Westpoint showground, Exeter.

“We want all young people in Devon to know more about where their food comes from and there isn't a better event in the county to show them.

“At the Show, children can have hands-on experiences at our children’s farm run by FarmWise; they can watch chicks hatch, see a cow being milked, press apples and drink a glass of fresh juice, and mill flour and bake their own bread roll.

“But between times, they can try one of our food and farming games and in the same place we can help teachers find local food and farming learning resources.”

In addition to highlighting the land-based economy, this year the Show is helping visitors to explore the county’s coastal and marine environment through its new ocean discovery zone. Again, the website provides resources connected to this major marine conservation feature.
