The 10th annual Exeter Pride takes place on Saturday 12 May from 12.00 and is the biggest free celebration of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT+) communities in the county of Devon.
This year Devon & Somerset Fire & Rescue Service are delighted to be again leading the parade with a fire engine from Exeter, Danes Castle fire station draped in the rainbow flag. The parade starts at 12:00, at St. Sidwells Community Centre, and finishes at Northenhay Gardens where there will be events, entertainment, refreshments and stalls throughout the day.
Chief Fire Officer Glenn Askew said: “Pride! This is the word which sums up how Devon & Somerset Fire & Rescue Service feel as a participant in Exeter Pride.
“The Service is extremely proud to support this event and demonstrate our commitment to celebrating the many differences that exist within our community and within our workplace. We are committed to making Devon and Somerset a safer place to live, work and visit for everyone. Regardless of race, religion, disability, sexual orientation, age, gender, gender identity or any other human characteristic.
“We believe it is important to participate in the parade, celebrating together alongside other emergency services, community groups, partners and individuals. Remembering each one of us can make a difference but together we can make a change.”
Interested in becoming an on-call firefighter?
When the parades stops at Northenhay Gardens the Fire Service will have a stand so stop by for a chat. We’ll be happy to answer any questions you may have on becoming a firefighter or provide fire safety advice for you and your loved ones. There will be firefighter kit that you will be able to try on as well as stickers and helpful leaflets.
We look forward to seeing you!
