Topsham’s highly acclaimed Denley’s Essence of India restaurant has once again been recognised at the British Curry Awards in London. This time being named as the best in Devon.

After beating off competition from thousands of other restaurants, Denley’s picked up a prestigious five star gold Award. It was also named as the very best in Devon.

The prestigious event was staged in front of a star studded celebrity audience at the Battersea Evolution venue

Denley’s made it on to the final shortlist thanks to a massive number of nominations from members of the public.  Many travel long distances to sample its unique menu.

Owner Jamil Miah is delighted that his restaurant’s reputation continues to grow. He says, “We’ve worked very hard over many years to make Denley’s Essence of India the finest eating experience anywhere locally.  We only use quality produce and make sure that our chefs are the very best. We have stylish surroundings and a very high level of service. I want to thank all of our customers who took the time to recommend us for an award again.”

It’s not the first time that Denley’s has received national recognition. In 2009, “Essence of India’ was awarded a Silver 4 Star Plaque after being chosen as one of the best of 12,000 nominated restaurants nationwide.

Many people travel out of Exeter to eat at Denleys, but they now also have a city centre option. Jamil has just opened the Pukka Indian restaurant in South Street, where Denley’s chefs will re-create that unique ‘Essence of India’ experience
