South West Water continues to supply its customers with some of the best quality tap water in the country, according to a new report by the Drinking Water Inspectorate.
The report, Drinking Water 2016, was presented to the industry and other interested bodies in London yesterday (26 July). It outlined the performance of the water industry with respect to managing drinking water quality and safety, and presented an insight into the future of regulation in this area.
South West Water’s Bob Taylor, Operations Director – Drinking Water Services, said: “We welcome the publication of this year’s report and, in particular, the open and collaborative approach proposed to assess water companies’ performance in the future. The new assessment methods take into account many of the factors that are important to our customers and maintaining consumer confidence in drinking water quality.
“We are delighted that South West Water performance is among the best in the industry using this more comprehensive performance measure.
“We know that supplying good, safe drinking water is our customers’ number one priority and our staff work tirelessly all year round to ensure that the water we produce is of the highest possible quality.”
Bob added: “We continue to invest and innovate in this area, including the new state-of-the-art Mayflower Water Treatment Works under construction near Plymouth, which will use cutting-edge water treatment technology.”
