We will keep it brief, and try to give you all the latest news without boring you witless, but have a read, we have so much going on and want you to know about it!

The team…

Greg, who has been our manager since we opened on 21st October 2006, has side stepped out of the management shoes (he’s knackered poor boy) to let Marcus drive the team forward; we welcome Marcus (even though he has worked for us for over 2 years) to the driving seat.

But Greg still can’t bring himself to leave, so he is still with us running the lunch shifts and supporting Marcus for a smooth transition.

Tom, our new head chef is doing a cracking job, bringing seasonal, locally sourced and classic foods to your table.  He is amazing at the vegetarian menu items, and loves his fish and meat too. Free range local meat and sustainable, local, fish where possible. Tom is a bit crazy, but we like him that way, fits in nicely.

Ben Broom, The speakeasy Cocktail Bar Manager, is about to launch his new cocktail menu with nearly 50 fantastic drinks, from the classics to some fancy twists. Ben took over from Chris Lacey after spending a long time working and learning with Chris.

Also on The Speakeasy team, we have Harry Stoneman. Harry is fairly new to the world of blended libations, but is showing a natural talent that is growing by the night…

The speakeasy is available for private hire. Give us a call to discuss your event. 01392 209050

Also on the team we have Girts, our assistant manager. Girts is originally from Latvia, and has a penchant for weird imported spirits and tennis. Girts also happens to be our National Lottery syndicate coordinator. (We live in hope)

Benn Ritchie is back on the team after a stretch on the loose. Third time lucky Benn! Welcome back!

The rest of the team; Jules & Sam are the glue that holds the rest of us together. Long may they remain sticky!  Some new additions to the team coming soon.

Beer…

We received our Cask Marque certificate for the second year running, gaining 100% on our score card.  Well done to Marcus and his cellar checklists. Good beer, good beer.

We shall soon be introducing our own branded ale. Keep a look out for the Odd stuff.

Good eating…

New spring menu was launched mid March, and is going down really well. We have re-introduced our express lunch menu; really good food, really cheap and if you’re in a hurry let us know and we’ll have it to you in a jiffy. (Great for lunch breakers)

We also received top marks on our hygiene inspection earlier in the year, which is displayed proudly in the front door window. Well done us.

And something for the kids you ask? Eating out with the brood is not cheap these days as we know, so, we have introduced a lunch menu for the little ones during the holidays with two courses and a drink for £0.99 when purchased with an adult meal. (Usually £4.95) Offer ends Tuesday 3rd May. All fresh and no crap.
