The Maynard School is giving parents a chance to purchase a brand new book published by the Girls’ School Association (GSA). ‘Your Daughter: A  guide for raising girls’ has been written by the heads and teachers of over 200 leading girls’ schools in the UK, and is full of practical advice for parents to help negotiate the challenges of raising a daughter in the 21st Century.

Based on the website www.mydaughter.co.uk, launched by the GSA in 2009 as the only website aimed at the parents of girls, the book combines wisdom and insight to provide a wealth of explanations and guidance that are the result of real experience.  Sections include advice on family relationships, friendships, adolescence, self-esteem, social networking and the internet, homework, exams and moods, among others.

Headmistress Bee Hughes said, ‘The book is an excellent guide to support parents helping girls face the challenges of growing up: covering subjects from relationships and letting go to the use of the internet and exams, it offers useful and practical advice to parents. We are delighted to be able to offer this book to all our new and current parents and hope that it will answer many of the questions that arise when raising girls, whatever age they are.’

The book has also been recommended by celebrities Alex Curran and Jamie Oliver, both of whom have daughters of their own.
