Last night at Exeter Golf and Country Club hosted the British Army presentation, 'The Army Today,' led by Brigadier P D P Hankinson, who is the Commander for the Army in the Exeter area.

The main part of the evening was presented by the Army Presentation Team, which represents the Chief of the General Staff, the professional head of the Army. The Team explained the Army's role in support of the Government's Defence Policy; how they train and prepare for operations world-wide, and the Army's capabilities, qualities of their people, as well as some of the challenges faced by them today.

After the presentation, the guests were given an opportunity to ask questions which were each answered helpfully and with frankness.

Representatives of commerce, the public sector, local government, the media, education and other important regional organisations were invited. As one of the attendees, I would like to thank the Army for delivering this informative presentation. It reinforced the importance for the community to understand what the Army does, learn how we can be more supportive to both serving soldiers, as well as veterans (of all ages), and to be aware of what the Army offers for future recruits, because they continue to look for top quality young people who want a challenging and rewarding occupation in the regular and in the reserve forces.
