If the Exeter Chiefs win the final, arrangements are being made for a victory parade through the city centre on Bank Holiday Monday.

It is expected that the spotlight for millions of people throughout Britain, Europe and further afield, will be on Exeter over the two days for one of the biggest weekends the city has ever seen.

Music fans be descending on Exeter and Powderham Castle on Saturday and Sunday for BBC Radio 1's Big Weekend, Europe's biggest free music event featuring bands such as Coldplay, Mumford and Sons, Take That, Ellie Goulding and Jake Bugg. Those unable to get to the event can listen to all the music on BBC Radio 1 or watch all the acts on BBC Four Television or on the Radio 1 website.

Council Leader Pete Edwards said the city was gearing up for a historic weekend and paid tribute to the Chiefs' stunning victory against Wasps.

"Absolutely sensational performance," he said. "We are so very proud of the Chiefs for reaching their maiden final, whatever the result next Saturday. This really will be a Super Saturday and one hell of a big weekend for Exeter."

For those not able to get to Twickenham, the match will be shown live on BT Sport on Saturday, with coverage starting at 2pm.

Exeter's newly-appointed Lord Mayor, Cllr Cynthia Thompson,
said everyone in Exeter will be cheering on the Chiefs next weekend and hoping they can win the first Premiership title in the club's history.

"I would like to congratulate the Chiefs on reaching Twickenham and wish them all the best for the final."

The City Council is looking at plans to host an open top bus tour through the city centre should the Chiefs win on Saturday. If the Chiefs are victorious in the final, the parade will set off on Bank Holiday Monday (30 May) at 2pm from St James Park, down Sidwell Street and into the High Street. It would stop off at Bedford Square, where fans would have the chance to meet the players before moving on to the Guildhall for a civic reception hosted by the Lord Mayor of Exeter.
