Exeter Golf and Country Club’s Tennis Section is celebrating a four-win success at the end of the 2011/2012 winter season.
Both the Men’s and Ladies’ A teams have won the top divisions in the Exeter and District League after a successful winter with some remarkable wins against David Lloyd, Victoria Park, Exeter University and Teign Valley.
The Club’s Ladies’ 2nd team came third in the division, only losing out from 2nd place by 5 points.
Over in the East Devon Tennis League, Exeter Golf and Country Club’s Mixed A team topped Division One completing the season undefeated. The B team came a close second!
The Club’s Mixed C team won the 3rd Division of the East Devon Tennis League, having only lost 2 matches all season.
Adam Tapp, Head of Sports at Exeter Golf and Country Club said,
“This is truly fantastic news for the tennis section at Exeter Golf and Country Club! We are incredibly proud of all our tennis players and of the support they show each other within the teams. We have a thriving tennis section and this is a really exciting time for us.”
The club has over 350 tennis players who play regularly throughout the week in club events, organised 4’s and committee run tournaments. The section also boasts a very sociable section with events held regularly.
Exeter Golf and Country Club is attracting record numbers of new members, with over 795 people joining during the last year, which is over double the number joining during 2010.
