The Department of Education assesses the A Level performance of 314 FE and sixth form colleges in a range of ways and, by every measure, Petroc’s results are exceptional.
The statistics show that, across both the campuses in North and Mid Devon, students at Petroc out-perform those in other Devon colleges when it comes to A Level provision, with an average point score per A Level entry higher than all other colleges in Devon.
The national tables also document the percentage of students achieving grades AAB or higher in facilitating subjects (those most valued by the country’s leading universities) and, in this category, Petroc is placed in the top 9% of colleges in the UK.
When it comes to value added – a key Ofsted indicator for monitoring students’ academic progress and distance travelled during their time at college – Petroc is also placed in the top 10% in the country.
“We are really proud of our students for, again, producing outstanding A level results. We knew they had broken all previous records but, to see us placed so highly in the national league tables and confirmed as the top college in Devon, is incredible,” commented a delighted Keith Devine, Head of the School of Humanities and Science.
“Not only have our phenomenal pass rates been highlighted but, perhaps most importantly, the data shows that students of all abilities make exceptional progress and that the very able students achieve outstanding results, enabling them to secure places at the country’s leading universities,” added Keith.
