Exeter Racecourse has announced the appointment of Daniel Thompson as its new racing sales manager.

Thompson joins the existing team of four in the office and will be responsible for actively selling, developing and promoting all raceday income streams, maximizing sales from clients and developing new business opportunities.

General manager Alice Everitt said: “Daniel is a great addition to the team and we are very much looking forward to working with him. He has a good knowledge of racing and proven sales experience and his enthusiasm for the racing industry bodes extremely well for Exeter.”

Thompson, a management and business studies graduate from Loughborough University, added: “I’ve come from a sales role but my heart has always been in the racing industry and have gained work experience at a couple of racecourses. Exeter is a lovely rural track with a great reputation and I’m delighted to be working here.”

Thompson will also be responsible for restaurant and hospitality packages as well as on course advertising and sponsorship.

“It’s an all encompassing role and one I’m very excited about. I’m looking forward to working with a great team at Exeter and the start of the new season in October,” he said.

Exeter is part of the 14-strong Jockey Club Racecourses which includes Aintree, Epsom and Cheltenham and has a turnover of £138m.
