Exeter Golf and Country Club are celebrating a boost to their membership sales in the first quarter of 2011, with the number of new members in March reaching a level not experienced since 2001.

Membership sales in January, February and March are 64% up on 2010, with March itself up a huge 62% on the same month last year.

Exeter Golf and Country Club have invested heavily in their sports facilities in the past two years including refurbished glass back squash courts now deemed to be the best in the county, plus a £182,000 redevelopment of the indoor heated swimming pool and spa. There is an ongoing £1.7 million investment strategy at the members club, which has a history spanning over 120 years in Exeter, covering the entire club including the golf course, tennis courts and gym.

Martin Halse, General Manager at Exeter Golf and Country Club said, “We are delighted that so many people are choosing to join Exeter Golf and Country Club. We are a very friendly and inclusive club and we welcome people of all ages and abilities so we know we are the perfect choice when people are looking for somewhere to get fit, meet people or just relax.

“We know that we provide a truly unique experience for our members. Where else can you enjoy so many sports from golf, squash, tennis, gym and fitness and of course, swimming in one establishment in the Exeter area? We are incredibly lucky to be able to offer our members all of this and within a stunning environment with a Georgian mansion house at the heart of the club. Of course, people coming to look around are always amazed that we offer such a variety of sport facilities, along with family areas, bars and restaurants. I suppose Exeter Golf and Country Club is a real hidden gem – but it seems more and more people are in on the secret – which is great!”

For the first time ever, Exeter Golf and Country Club is opening its doors to the public with its first Open Day on Sunday 10th April. People will be able to explore the facilities and try some of the food in theCLUBHOUSE restaurant which is usually for members and delegates only. The club is offering a Sunday Carvery for £7.50 per person to celebrate the Open Day. Entrance to the Open Day is free of charge and families are welcome, with childrens activities taking place throughout the day. There will also be an exclusive membership offer and the chance to win a family membership in aid of FORCE cancer charity.

Martin Halse continues, “We are very excited about the Open Day on the 10th April. It is a great opportunity for people to pop in, see what we have here and perhaps take advantage of the fantastic membership offer we will have available on the day. Of course, one lucky family is in with a chance of winning a membership as well, so it’s going to be a lot of fun for everyone involved.”
