Employers are particularly needed for their feedback.
The University of Exeter is carrying out research on behalf of Exeter City Council into the impact that low wages and high costs of living has on people living in Exeter. The closing date for submissions is 15 August.
The work is part of a City Council-led Cost of Living Forum which was set up last year.
The Forum is made up of Exeter City and Devon County Councillors and representatives from the University of Exeter, Job Centre Plus, the Citizenbs Advice Bureau, Exeter CVS, South West TUC and the Federation of Small Businesses.
Cllr Rosie Denham, Lead Councillor for Economy and Culture, said she hoped as many people as possible would take part in the survey.
"We recognise that there are many people living in Exeter who are feeling the pinch. By gathering information we hope to be able to work together and offer innovative ways of tackling these problems and reducing the impact that it has on people living in the city."
