Mid Devon District Council applies for £1.2 million of Lottery funding to help renovate historic buildings in Cullompton

The Council recognises the importance of regenerating Cullompton’s unique heritage and has been looking for opportunities to bring in money to support property owners in repairing and restoring historic buildings. The Council applied to the Heritage Lottery last year for funding but was unsuccessful due to the funding programme being massively over-subscribed. However, we were encouraged to re-apply this year following positive feedback from the Lottery. Cllr Richard Chesterton, Cabinet Member for Planning and Regeneration, said:“Cullompton has a rich heritage and it would be great to get this funding to help restore some of its unique buildings. If successful, this funding will help revitalise the town centre, making it more attractive to shoppers and visitors and leading to wider regeneration. We have every hope we will get a positive outcome this time around.”

If successful in our bid, the funding will allow the Council to offer property owners grants to repair and restore the historic fabric of the town. We will know the outcome in May 2018.
