The Maynard School in Exeter is busy preparing to welcome Head Girls and their teams from across the South West to the annual Girls’ School Association (GSA) Head Girls Conference 2010, sponsored by Foot Anstey Solicitors.

The Head Girls’ conference, which takes place on Thursday 30 September, is an opportunity for Head Girls and their teams from girls’ schools across the region to work together and take part in group tasks and challenges.

The theme of the day will be ‘The Courage of Leadership’, and will feature inspirational talks and workshops by special guest Rebecca Stephens MBE, the first British woman to climb Everest & the Seven Summits, as well as Sally Walters, an Old Maynardian & the Young Women Engineer of the Year 2009 and respected Lawyer Karen Bates of Foot Anstey Solicitors. The delegates will be assigned with an ‘Apprentice’-style challenge during the course of the day in which they will have to lead and manage a project as a team.

Headmistress Bee Hughes said, “We are delighted to be hosting the GSA Head Girls’ Conference at The Maynard for the first time, developing leadership skills is a fundamental aspect to any aspirant young professional. I am sure that all the girls attending will find the day inspiring and motivational.  We are most grateful to all speakers and colleagues who have helped in preparing this conference, and to Foot Anstey for supporting the event.”
