Making the Most of the Season's Vegetables

There are some vegetables that are much better value, fresher and tastier from the local suppliers than from the supermarkets. Curly Kale and Purple Sprouting Broccoli are plentiful at the moment from local Shillingford Organics and is much less cost too!

These vegetables are not so prevelant in our lives today - because mainly of limited availability and high cost in the supermarkets, they have gone off the menu in many households. They are also a rarity in the celebrity chef cookery books.

So here are some 'How To Cook' articles for these vegetables along with some suggestions from the readers of my website. Do feel free to add your own suggestions and lets get these fabulously nutritious vegetables back on the plates of the people of Exeter! Sharing cooking ideas is always inspiring too!

If you can't get to the Farmer's market, I now run a Vegetable and Collection scheme from the Hub on the Green (8, Cathedral Close) or if you get together with 5 or more friends or work colleagues, you can have your veg order delivered to a place of you choice in the city (home or workplace). Happy Cooking!
