This Christmas, thebestof Exeter members Sparks South West (see more information here) is appealing for donations to support medical research that is proven to save lives.

Earlier this year, a Sparks funded project saved the life of Baby Riley Joyce.  When Riley was born he was not breathing and faced the possibility of permanent brain injury.  Riley was transferred to St Michael's Hospital, Bristol where he became the first newborn baby to receive xenon gas treatment. Professor Marianne Thoresen pioneered the treatment and spoke of his early progress. After seven days, Riley was alert, able to look at his mother's face, hold up his head and begin to take milk.

Baby Riley continues to improve in health and will be spending his first Christmas at home with parents Dave and Sarah Joyce.

Your donation will support projects like this to ensure more families are able to spend Christmas together.  We hope that you are able make a difference to the lives of children and babies throughout the UK by making a donation.

Donations can be made via www.justgiving.com/sparksappealsw

Or by cheque made payable to Sparks and posted to
