Getting your Social Media ready for 2018

2018 is just around the corner now, as we dwell in the depths of Chrimbo Limbo. This betwixt-mass time sees some of us return to work, whilst others spend more time than is normal, with their family!

If you're one of the fortunate ones who gets to spend all that extra time with your family (!), let me tell you how you can find a reason to jump on to your computer and 'take a break'.

2018 Planning

There are a plethora of articles written at this time of the year, stating what IS going to happen in 2018. For example, here is Forbes' version, which is a look at the 7 Social Media trends that will Dominate 2018 - "sigh"

Now, don't get me wrong, it's important to read these articles, so you can stay up to date with the latest trends and actions that you may need to take. But, quite frankly, what you need to think about is what is going to work best for your customers/clients.

Augmented Reality or Live Streaming?

Now, if you think either of the above might work for you, investigate it. But if they both seem a stretch for your business currently, then I would suggest you already know what you've got to do.

If you know that A.R. or Live Streaming is wrong for your business, I would wager that you probably know what is right for your business too. So, DO THAT!

You Get Out What You Put In

What is important though, is that you TAKE ACTION with your social media marketing. If you just leave it to chance, chance is, it won't work. If you take some action and make some plans, there's a chance, it might work.

Campaigns

Think of some campaigns you could run, offering help and advice (not trying to sell) to your existing/potential customers. Maybe run them over the course of 4 to 6 weeks.

Engage with people and ensure you that they are getting the value you intended to give them, from you.

Finally, make sure you measure the effectiveness of your campaigns. Simple numbers like 'growth in followers' or 'engagement' are a good bench mark.

Starter for 10

These are just a few ideas to whet your appetite and hopefully inspire you in to taking action. I honestly believe, if you offer people valuable content via your social media channels, it will bring you a long-term gain.

I truly hope that 2018 brings you everything you deserve. Whether you use this time of the year to kick-start yourself, or whether you simply feel recharged after the short break, go for it in the New Year and make it happen with your Social Media.

Take care of yourself, and HAPPY NEW YEAR! MATT
