A group of friends from Devon have organised an “unusual and interesting” event – The September Fayre – to celebrate thirty years of the local hospice charity, Hospiscare.

The five friends – Jenny Duffett, Penny Kempton, Debbie Luck, Angela Mileham and Marion Trotter – are passionate about their local hospice charity which supports and employs local people, caring for patients and their families both in the hospice and out in the community.

“We are all aware of the anxiety caused to family and friends, not to mention the person who is desperately ill,” says Debbie Luck on behalf of the group. “Having visited the Hospiscare hospice at the Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital it brings home the importance of fund-raising for this very worthy cause.”

The Fayre will include work by local artists. “We have planned it all to be a little bit different,” says Penny Kempton. “There’ll be unusual and interesting stalls, in marquees, selling quality goods for the house and garden, gifts clothes and food. There’ll also be a display of classic cars, an upmarket car boot sale, beer tent and wine tasting, plus other refreshments and food – and an award-winning ice cream bicycle.

The September Fayre on Saturday, September 1st, will be held at Grovelands Farm, Yarcombe, EX14 9BQ from 10am until 4pm. Admission is £3, under 12’s free. Plenty of free parking and limited disabled access.
