Exeter YMCA has been announced as one of the Great West Run charities of the year for 2012. As a local charity providing 14,000 nights accommodation and support a year to homeless young people in Devon, Exeter YMCA would like to invite you to be a part of their running team for this year’s Exeter half marathon!

Amongst those taking part is Exeter YMCA resident, Dan McAloon. Dan was homeless and often found himself in trouble with the police before moving into Exeter YMCA three years ago. Since being there Dan has avoided trouble with the police and he has gained a job through our Job Club which he has held down for almost 3 years. Dan says “the YMCA has completely turned my life around. They have given me a home, all the support I need to get my life back on track and given me aspirations and hope for the future”

When asked why Dan was running the Great West Run for Exeter YMCA he responded “Exeter YMCA is a great charity, I think the staff there are amazing. I wanted to give something back”.

Exeter YMCA has a number of free Great West Run charity places to give away to those who are willing to raise £150 minimum sponsorship for their work with homeless young people in Devon.
